BURP- Boys Undercover Reading Program

Our school has started a new initiative to promote literacy in our school. This initiative is called BURP (Boys Undercover Reading
Program) and is aimed to encourage our male students to become more excited about reading. This initiative motivates boys to
read by providing them with high-interest reading material in a risk-free environment. Boys in grades 3-6 come to the library at
scheduled times each week to engage in reading. While there, they can choose a book from the special cart and read
independently or with others. While the boys are out of the classroom, the girls are given the opportunity to engage in other
literacy activities with their teachers. We will also be providing a boys reading club at lunchtime on Day 5 for our boys in grade
2. We are excited about getting this initiative started for our students
